Support for Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) and 8 (IE8) - Changes to come in 2015

Microsoft has announced that they will end support for IE7 and IE8 in January 2015. After some careful consideration, we have decided that one45 will also stop supporting these browsers, in September 2015.

What will change for me if I use one of these older browsers?

Beginning with any releases in September 2015, we will no longer be testing our tools on IE7 and IE8, and we will not be addressing any bugs or performance issues that may occur when using these browsers.
You may find that over time some features or functionality no longer work in IE7 or IE8. This will be a gradual change over time, as we make updates in one45 that may be incompatible with these browsers.

Why is one45 ending support for these browsers?

We want to provide the best possible experience for our customers. The time required to support these older browsers is time that we would rather spend on finding new ways to make you more productive and successful.
  1. IE7 and IE8 are less secure than newer browsers. The security of your data is very important to us, and as Microsoft drops support, we are concerned that future security vulnerabilities will not be addressed.
  2. IE7 and IE8 are not HTML5 compatible. We want to be able to take advantage of the many advancements in web technology that have developed since IE7 and IE8 were released in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
  3. Microsoft will stop supporting IE7 and IE8 in January 2015. Microsoft is recommending that their customers stop using these products and migrate to newer versions of their software. You can read more about their plans at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/endofsupport.aspx. We will continue to provide support past Microsoft’s January deadline so that you have extra time to prepare for this change.

What do I need to do?

We recommend that you and your company’s IT administrators upgrade your older systems within the next year. We are giving you this notice of our plans 12 months in advance so that you have time to make any necessary arrangements.
We realize that for some institutions, there may not be the budget for upgrading your computer systems, and that you may have other legacy applications that rely on these browsers. Our system supports many other, free browsers that you may wish to consider if you can’t fully migrate away from IE7 or IE8. As of September 2015 we will officially support the following browsers:
  1. Internet Explorer 9 and newer
  2. Mozilla Firefox, most recent stable version
  3. Google Chrome, most recent stable version
  4. Apple Safari, most recent stable version

What will happen if I do nothing?

Most of the system will likely continue to work as normal. Over time, as we make changes and updates, you may find that certain features and pages stop working in these browsers. We will no longer address these issues if and when they come up.

Is there more information available?

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact our support team, and we’d be happy to help.
